Cakewalk has always been a great all-encompassing music creation platform, it comes with various tools to get you started, straight out of the box! It’s great to see pro-level DAW’s become available on a more global scale, one less hurdle for beginner producers to jump when taking their first steps in music production. The most notable of which being the integration with Microsoft’s Surface-Dial alongside touch and pen support. However, the DAW integrates very tightly with the Windows platform, making use of some of the handier features thereof. There’s one small catch…Ĭakewalk by BandLab is currently not available for Mac OS X, and we’re not sure if one will be released soon. BandLab, who became known for their online social network for producers which offered a real time DAW within your browser for users to collaborate, has already built a big user-base and hopefully we’ll see some interesting integration between Cakewalk and their online platform. Not only will the DAW be available to the public again, but it will be FREE! Along with almost the entire Sonar Platinum feature set.īandLab Technologies CEO has said there is an “aggressive feature development roadmap ahead” for CakeWalk while the new version even sports some previously unreleased features.
